February 15 Little Lost Girl Valentine’s Day is over, but the love still remains. This book was written for the memory of a child, and the love that we all have. So many books have been written about a lost girl. They range from a abduction, runaways, falling through the cracks in the foster care system, to a girl’s frame of mind, or how she coped through life. My book is a little different. It is a murder mystery that came to me in a dream. Yes, once again, I am the main character. Why do I have these dreams, I have no idea, but they come to me with great detail and streaming filled with emotion. They move me so that I wake up and I am compelled to write them down. Characters have to be made up along with a plausible scenario, because the dreams come and go in fragments. They usually don’t have a beginning, or a lot of detail, just the main heart of the story, and leaving me filled with thoughts.
When I sat down to write my outline notes, as soon as I picked up my pen, the beginning, middle, and end flowed like water onto the pages. The heart of my dream comes to life into a compelling, moving story. I pour myself into what I write. I want people to enjoy reading without having a disgust of overly violence or sexual content, even though that seems to be what sells in today’s market. I feel that even those people can enjoy and be uplifted by my books. As I stated before, it is a one of a kind, even though the title is used in so many ways, for so many books. The cover depicts the harsh and brutal situation of this beautiful little girl, and once you have read the book can see why. My heart cried out for this girl, and I felt great overwhelming satisfaction at the end. To me, I wish everyone could do their part like my main character. He took on the challenge with all the odds stacked against his own life. He could have just walked away, but instead, he vowed to himself to be involved. Excerpt: …Ben placed his folder on the stand next to his seat and started, "Well, this might be hard to swallow because I don’t believe it myself but I promised I would pursue it. So here it goes. You remember when the D.A. of Brighton was running for governor then their little girl went missing?" Berkeley nodded his head, “Yes, I remember.” “Well, I was there one week before that, building a playhouse and swing set for them and their daughter, Megan. I met the little girl for about twenty seconds, then Mr. Casher yelled at her to come back into the house. I finished up the job and left.” “Okay, you were there one week before.” Ben’s heart was now pounding. “Yes, okay. Last week, I went back because my brother was working there on their new swimming pool; and I brought him his tools that he left in the back of my truck. This is where it gets weird. My truck stalled out and backed into a pole, so I had to wait for a tow truck. While I was waiting I heard a little girl laugh and looked down into the swamp and saw what I thought was a doll. For some reason I picked it up and brought it out to wash it off. When I did, it came alive and ran off to play with the children that got off the bus.” Berkeley put his hands up and leaned back into his chair. “Wait, wait, wait, so this doll came alive, just like that?” “Wait. Keep an open mind and hear me out. Mr. Casher was arguing in his house and came out and got into his car and backed out of the garage. I saw the little girl standing, frozen, about to get run over, so I jumped up, ran over and grabbed her. Mr. Casher didn’t look back and just drove away. The little girl had a terrified look on her face while I watched a tire mark come up her light blue dress and crushed her. Then she dissolved into nothingness. While I sat there in the driveway, I saw a little girls shoe stuck under the garage wood overhang. Mrs. Casher stepped out of the house and angrily asked me what I was doing in her driveway and told me to go wait in my truck.” Ben paused and Berkeley didn’t say a word. “While I sat in my truck I had a vision, like a dream but I was awake. Call it psychic; call it a premonition, or ghostly phenomenon, I don’t know, but it was the day after I had finished the playhouse when the Cashers had a big fight and Megan was run over by Mr. Casher. You see; in this vision, he didn’t want to lose his career or the governor’s race, so they kept their mouths shut and buried their daughter in the swamp with his own tarp from the garage and with the weights from his workout bench in the house.” Berkeley rubbed his face and nodded his head. “So that’s what the vision showed you? No real concrete evidence. Just a spooky feeling.” “Yeah, that’s about it. Except, when the tow truck driver came, Megan came up and gave me a big hug because I promised to do something about it and the tow truck driver saw her and commented saying cute kid or cute little girl, something like that. But he saw her too.” Now Berkeley leaned forward in his big chair and folded his hands on the desk “So you come to this office with this story and I’m supposed to do what?” “So, I wanted legal representation before I said anything about the D.A. and I really didn’t want to go to the police with a crazy vision story. That’s my dilemma. In my vision I know exactly where in the swamp that she was placed. I know that if the swamp were to be searched where I believe to have seen her floating, she would be found there.” “You know that you are going to be the number one suspect.” “I know. That’s why I need an excellent lawyer. I had nothing to do with her disappearance and I believe in the vision.” I made a promise to this little girl and a promise is a promise. WOW!
